Emmy Award winner Sir Shefik Macauley is a
long-time resident of Yonkers, New York.
He is media professional and civic leader, whose work spans storytelling, technology, and community innovation.
In media production, Shefik served as Technical Production Manager and Technical Lead for 3 Olympic Games at NBC Sports and Peacock, where he architected and developed a recognized standard of excellence in innovative application-based technology, while supporting production workflows.
In addition to his work in media, Shefik serves as Managing Director and Local Lead of NASA Space Apps Yonkers, where he helps coordinate and support participation in the global NASA Space Apps Challenge — the largest hackathon in the world with over 114,000 registered participants.
In this role, he contributes to STEAM engagement and fosters collaboration between technologists, students, and community participants in the Yonkers region, as well as Westchester County overall.
Shefik is also engaged in international civil society initiatives through affiliation with organizations holding Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Shefik serves as Special Envoy to the United Nations for the Sovereign Imperial and Royal House of Ghassan, reflecting participation in UN-facing civil society and global dialogue frameworks.
Shefik's work sits at the intersection of media, civic engagement, and innovation, with an emphasis on connecting local communities to global platforms in science, technology, and storytelling.
Shefik also serves as a Correspondent at Yonkers Voice, where he interviews key stakeholders and notable community members throughout Westchester County.
